Abstract

RIKEN, the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research was founded in 1917
as an incorporated foundation. Since then, RIKEN has been involved in a wide
range of research activities in the fields of physics, engineering,
chemistry, biology and medical science as the only comprehensive research
institute for natural sciences in Japan.

RIKEN has played an active role for collaborative projects between
universities, corporations and funded research programs, as well as being
the driving force behind disclosing technological findings and knowledge to
the industrial sector.

This film is an insightful documentary that follows the development of RIKEN
from its establishment through to 1985.
